ME
I made a batch of these cupcakes for the Carbry girls on Monday. The cupcakes were a disaster of sorts- I ran out of cocoa powder, so instead of 3/4 cups, I put in 1/2 cup of cocoa powder only. So to make up for the lesser cocoa taste, I decided to be creative and rolled up my leftover chocolate ganache into chocolate balls and stuck those in the center of the cupcakes. I envisioned a cupcake with a molten chocolate centre. Fat hope, the chocolate ball melted! Luckily though, it made the center of the cupcakes chocolately, which is more than I can say for the rest of the cupcakes. The texture was moist, but the taste was bleh. So I whipped up a chocolate fudge frosting that was TOO SWEET (darn that stupid recipe!). Thankfully though, the sweetness made up for the bland cupcakes and I got raving reviews from them. Phew. See that cupcake at the bottom right hand corner, so oddly sprinkled with chopped hazelnuts? It was a failed attempt on my part to beautify my cupcakes, cause I thought they looked so plain with just the fudge frosting. Should have kept my itchy hands to myself haha.
In the end, I decided to give the remaining cupcakes to a friend, whose cupcake (that I made and he brought home) got stolen from the refrigerator, where he left it. I didn't know it was his birthday the day before, so he thought I had given him a 'birthday cake'! Hahahah talk about coincidence! This picture was taken from his facebook, which he posted up together with a lovely thank you note. It's times like these when I feel that all the effort that I've put into my baking is really so worth it!:)
