GERMANY!!! <3

Okay, so they lost to Serbia, but that was a fluke, and we know it, because they THRASHED England yesterday! :D 4-1! I was so happy! Even though it's bad for the English because they really wanted to try and win this World Cup, but who ask you to play so lousily in the group stage and let USA top the group! If not they would have played against Ghana, and most probably win, and Germany will still beat USA, and both sides advance to the quarter-finals.

That said, I applaud the Englishmen for a wonderful game yesterday, and like everyone out there, I believe Lampard's goal should have been allowed. Poor Lampard- 33 shots at goal and none in. Goal-line technnology= opening a Pandora's box; FIFA is dumb ttm mans.

So Germany meets my other fave, Argentina, who sailed through with a comfortable 3-1 win over Mexico! I'll be happy whichever side goes on, but it's so sad that they have to meet so darn early in the tournament. This is at least a semi-final-like match. But then again, Germany had to meet England in the knockout stages, and that sort of a match is also semi-final-like.

And we are not through with semi-final-like matches yet; Spain meets Portugal this Wednesday morning (Singapore time). But Spain is so poor thing; they have to meet either Portugal or Brazil either way whichever country tops Group G.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh this World Cup is turning out so unpredictable! Key events that prove this point, starting with the GOOD-sort:

#1: In what is only their second feature in the World Cup, the New Zealanders went home undefeated. All the more amazing when you remember that they lost all their group matches in their World Cup debut. So yay to you, Kiwis!:)

#2: That injury-time goal by Landon Donovan in that match against Algeria. Totally unexpected.

#3: Portugal scores 7-0 against North Korea. Seriously, SEVEN goals.

#4: Germany thrashes England 4-1. I'm being biased here, but seriously, no one would ever have predicted a score like this...

And now, for the BAD sort...

#1: 2006 World Cup runner-ups France draws 1 game, loses 2 games (one of which is SOUTH AFRICA lmao) and finishes bottom of their group.

#2: 2006 World Cup CHAMPIONS Italy draws 2 games (one of which is with New Zealand!) and loses to Slovakia and following in the footsteps of France, finishes bottom of their group.

HUMILIATING TTM.

#3: France loses to South Africa, Germany loses to Serbia, Italy loses to Slovakia, Spain loses to Switzerland.

#4: Lampard's goal that was not awarded thanks to FIFA's insistence in March on not pursuing research and experiments in goal-line technology, the assistant referee's cock-eye and the referee's quick and ultimately stupid decision to listen to the cock-eyed dude.

There'll be more as the World Cup progresses, but that's all I can think about up till now. Ahhhhhh I'm so glad I get to enjoy this World Cup; if I had been borned a year later, it's CTs for me now.
